Description
Use our Spectrometer for introducing students to principal types of spectra and determination of the wavelength and frequency of emitted light. It can also be used for quantitative spectrometric measurement of angle of prism and refractive index of the prism material. It is similar to a Student Spectrometer but it has enhanced features for obtaining better quantitative results. The Spectrometer consists of a heavy cast base and a pillar for collimator support. The telescope arm moves along a fixed circular plate 6″ (150 mm) Dia., graduated in degrees (0-360 x 1). This plate has a double-ended vernier for more accurate measurements. Fine adjustment is accomplished by using a knob while coarse adjustment can be done by hand. Both the collimator and the telescope are mounted with an axis adjustment system. The telescope has a 10X Ramsden eyepiece and is fitted with a cross hair reticle. Both the telescope and the collimator are fitted with coated achromatic objectives of 7″ (178 mm) focal length and 1.25″ (32 mm) Dia., providing light for a brighter and sharper image. The focusing is refined by a concealed rack and pinion. The collimator slit 0.25″ (6 mm) long is specially designed for retention of initial accuracy during the life of the instrument. The prism table 3″ (75 mm) Dia. is held with the help of a clamping screw which enables the table to be rotated in any direction. This item has lines and concentric rings marked to assist in positioning the prism in relation to leveled screws. It is fitted with a diffraction grating holder of aperture 1″ (25 mm) x 1″ (25 mm) and a clamp for holding prisms up to 1.5″ (38 mm) high. The Spectrometer comes with a prism and a diffraction grating.
