This Carbon Electrode Rod is used for electrolysis of reactive materials like hydrochloric acid and other compounds. It is a suitable alternative to platinum. Alligator clips can be used for making wire connections.

Metal Support Stand Only (for the Hoffman Electrolysis)
This metal support stand can be used with the Hoffman Electrolysis Apparatus (Item #3155-01) and similar apparatuses. This specially designed, heavy metal support has binding posts in the base and double clamps on the rod; a special clamp with prongs for supporting the lower part of the apparatus is also supplied. The stand will hold the apparatus securely without straining or damaging the glass apparatus.
